| Dear Friend of Terraset,
Things will be starting to get
very hectic at the school this week. The administrative staff have of
course been busy for a while preparing for the new school year, and
most of the teachers have already been active preparing their
classrooms. However, today is officially the teachers' first day back
to work. Welcome!
We are all eager to meet new
staff and catch up with those who are returning. We'll get that chance
at Open House on Thursday at 2:30pm. So, don't forget to go...
it is for all Terraset families, both new and returning. It is your
first chance to find out which class your children have been assigned
to and to meet their teacher.
The PTA will be there too, so
please find our table in the lobby: you can renew your membership,
volunteer for various activities during the year, or simply say "hello!"
Then, at 3:30pm join us for
popsicles on the playground... the kids will surely enjoy that!
You also have another
opportunity to welcome back the staff! The PTA will host a breakfast
for them on Thursday morning, so if you are able to contribute some
breakfast foods, help with setup, or clean up... please let us know.
See below for more details.

Breakfast for the Staff
Can you help?
On Thursday September 3rd at
8:15 am, the PTA will be hosting a breakfast for Terraset's staff.
Would you like to help us?
You can help by donating a
casserole, danish, fruit, juice or anything else that you make (or buy)
well! Please drop your goodies at the school, in the teachers'
lounge, by 8:00 am. An alternative is
to leave items with Suzanne White (11486 Bingham Terrace,
703-648-0318) the night before.
If you are able to help, please email Kathy Somer or
telephone 703.716.5905 to let her know what you plan to bring. Also, if
you deliver things to the school before 8 am, and need to put them in
the fridge, please label them and let Kathy know they are there.

Thanks to the helpers!
The kids will love their new
backpacks
About eight volunteers-- both
parents and students-- helped to put together school supplies last week!
Sponsored by Kids R First and
Reston Interfaith, over 100 students at Terraset will receive a new
backpack and their school supplies on Thursday.
Kids R First
raises funds year round from businesses, associations, and individuals
in the community. These funds are used to purchase school
supplies for every fall term. The children targeted to receive
Kids R First supplies are typically on free or reduced lunch programs.
Couple that with the Reston Interfaith backpack
drive and the kids get to start the year with what they need!

| PTA Chairs
big thank you to our new volunteers!
Suzanne Veter
has agreed to be the School Assemblies Coordinator and Tracie
Gunn has agreed to be the Spirit Wear Coordinator.
We still need a Grants
Committee Chair but we are confident one of you
will offer to fill that position soon!
