And Sign-up for Three4Me
Dear Friend of Terraset,

It has been a week for winners!

A winning night at Back-to-School Night as parents and teachers met... often for the first time!

A winning night for lucky door prize winners... congratulations Cate Johnson!

A winning day at Whole Foods Market... read on!

And more chances to win by participating in the Innisbrook Gift Wrap Sale... every little bit helps!

But most of all, you can be a winner by making your Three4Me Pledge. Just three hours of your time, anytime during the school year, and you will make a difference!

There are two great opportunities for you to fulfill your pledge in this bulletin. The Vision and Hearing Screening team need assistance and more bodies are needed for Thursdays in the Garden.

Vision and Hearing Screening
Volunteers Needed

The school REALLY needs your help!

Each year Terraset tests the vision and hearing of a number of students. This year 150-160 students will be tested and the Health Room Aide needs help!
The school needs 10 volunteers to help screen kindergartners' and 3rd grader's vision and hearing on Wednesday, October 7th between 9:15am - 1pm.

If you can help, please sign up here!

The Health Room Aide, Gladelle Hardenbergh, will work with six volunteers to do vision tests. The Public Health Nurse, Mary Joan Shea, will work with two volunteers to do hearing screening. The testing will be undertaken on the stage and in the conference room, so other volunteers will help to keep the children settled and quiet.
Last Weekend for Gift Wrap Sale!

This is the last weekend you have to help your kids make some sales from the Innisbrook catalog and win some prizes! The sale finishes on 9/30/09.

There are prizes from both Innisbrook and the PTA, so every student has a good chance to get something. Check out the PTA Prize List.

You can order in two ways:
  1. Online at www.innisbrook.com  If you enter the school number -- 109245 -- shipping is free but the items are delivered to the school.
  2. Complete the paper order form and send it to school in the Innisbrook envelope, along with a check, made out to Terraset PTA, for the total order value, and we will order for you!

Check your Innisbrook pack for full details.

Thursdays in the Garden!
We STILL need your help

Garden Maintenance

If you are interested in working in the school gardens please Sign-up Here for Thursday in the Garden -- a great opportunity to exercise, socialize, and beautify the school's landscape. The kids can't do it alone and the grounds committee desperately need help.

Thanks to the Stobie family for helping to move some of the mulch from the side of the school up to the Butterfly Garden. However, there is still more to move. Please contact Faye Codding if you can help -- any time of the day works for this project.

A Big Thanks To Whole Foods Market!

Whole Foods Markets

On Wednesday, September 23rd, volunteers from Terraset ES, and other elementary schools in the area, managed a small booth at Whole Foods Market in Reston to talk to customers about the School Lunch Revolution, a program from Chef Ann Cooper that encourages healthy eating in our schools.

We were very happy to see a number of our teachers and parents shopping at the store. We were also very happy with the outcome. Whole Foods Market committed to donating a portion of their net takings for the day to each participating school and as a result, has donated $1,081.97 to Terraset PTA.

In addition, Whole Foods Market donated a wonderful door prize for Back-to-School Night -- an Italian Dinner Basket valued at $100. Cate Johnson was the lucky winner!

Thank you Whole Foods!
