PTA Reflections Program 2009-2010
Reflections
is a National PTA arts recognition and achievement program. The program
follows a judging format, although winning should not be the emphasis.
Indeed, Reflections is not so much an art
competition, as a project through which children learn to express
themselves using various art media. However, the program does culminate
in a competition with winning entries advancing to district, regional,
state and finally a national PTA competition.
All entries need to be original and inspired by the 2009-2010 theme, "Beauty Is..."
Students may choose from six
areas of expression:
- Dance Choreography: Dance
entries less than 3 minutes on a CD or DVD
- Film Production: Film entries
less than 5 minutes on a CD or DVD
- Literature: Not to exceed
2000 words and not larger than 8 1/2" x 11"
- Musical Composition: Musical
entries less than 5 minutes on a CD
- Photography: Maximum size of
11" x 14" including mat.
- Visual Art (drawing,
painting, print making, and collage): Maximum size of 24"x30" with mat,
not to exceed 3/8" thickness.
Student's work will be
considered according to their grade division -- K-2, 3-5,
6-8. You should review these Detailed Program Requirements.
All Terraset entrants will be entered into a drawing, specific to their
chosen media, for Gift Cards. Consistent with the judging at all levels
of the program, there will be 3 levels of distinction:
Award of
Merit
Award of Excellence
Outstanding Interpretation
Ribbon placement will be
awarded at each grade division for each media. The artwork chosen as
the Outstanding Interpretation piece will move on to the next level of
competition.
