PTA in Your Community |
Butterfly GardenTerraset's Butterfly Garden is a product of its hard working community. With a long history of conservation, it seemed natural for Terraset PTA to enhance the educational experiences of its students, teachers and community members by promoting the use of the outdoors as a teaching tool. Designed by one of our members, the garden has been established and maintained by our children, staff, and parents. The garden was planned to provide some protection for insects and their environment. The Butterfly Garden was created with the support of the National Wildlife Federation’s Schoolyard Habitats®Program and provides enriching and interactive educational opportunities that foster enthusiasm in the school's students and educators alike. Come join other parents, children and neighbors in the butterfly garden on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00pm for. Volunteers will meet every Thursday until October 15. There are frequently fun things to look at-- from large green grasshoppers to praying mantis eggs. Activities include weeding, watering and transplanting plants. Mulching will also be a priority before the November rains begin to set in. Bring children, garden gloves, something to drink, bug-spray and tools (hand trowels, shovels, rakes, brooms, etc.) Come for as little or as long as you can stay.
